Wild looking real weevil that looks like it came from a Hieronymus Bosch painting, Curculionidae species from Peru, presented in a handmade 4.5"x4.5" wood frame. While working with so many strange and wonderful insects I often wonder what kinds of inspiration they may have had on art and culture throughout time. Some African moths have such similar patterns to ceremonial masks, and some South American bugs bear a striking resemblance to Mesoamerican design motifs. Well, it may be fair to suggest that Heironymus Bosch had a example of this species laying around in his studio! Measures .75 inches from top to bottom not including the legs. You will receive the same perfect specimen shown in the photos. I only have this one. Curious Kingdom has been lovingly crafting our handmade insect frames for over a decade. We have provided these natural displays for nature enthusiasts, museums, and television and film sets. Most of our insects are sourced from farming operations located throughout the world. All of our insect frames are handmade from painted birch wood in the USA. I personally prepare each insect one at a time and put everything together here at my Bug Studio in Silver City, NM. All frames come with 99% UV protective glass so you don't have to worry about your investment ever fading. (Although it is a good idea to still keep out of direct sunlight.)
